UPDATE, FEBRUARY 2, 2018: THIS SITE IS NOT SHUTTING DOWN. PLEASE READ THIS NEW POST.
It’s taken me a while to actually write and publish this post, but it needs to be done.
I am permanently shutting down TrueCrimeDiva.com. It’s something I have struggled with for a long time now, but there are a few reasons right now that are leading me to this decision.
Traffic is at an all-time low
This is the first time in my seven years of owning this site that traffic is way down. This means that not many people are reading the articles or commenting on articles, basically. It is my fault because I don’t produce enough content on a weekly or monthly basis and people don’t like that. Well, I understand, but this blog is not like other blog niches. The material is depressing and time-consuming to research and write.
I also do not market any other way than social media because it’s free. I’ve never paid for advertisements. I know I should but I am on a tight budget, so I’d rather spend my money on other much-needed things.
Interest just isn’t there
I’ve lost complete interest in writing true crime cases. Truth is, that happened a long time ago. I have tried really hard to find my passion for it again, but I can’t, and it’s time I stop trying. What’s meant to be will be.
People prefer podcasts
I am finding that true crime fans prefer podcasts. I hate them. I don’t listen to them because I think they are boring. I’m a reader. I prefer to read a story. And I also prefer to write them over speaking into a damn microphone. I thought about starting my own but I know nothing about them, and while I could learn, the interest isn’t there.
Unsure of how I can make this site better
I’ve brainstormed for the last several months to see how I can make this blog better. Make it where I will want to keep it and others will love to visit. I just don’t know what to do with it. I even did a poll for a couple of days a few months or so ago, but only one person answered it.
Blogging other things
I started another blog. It’s a completely different niche – a lifestyle blog where I write about all different and positive things. It’s brand new, and I am finding I prefer it over this blog. In fact, I am hoping to turn it into a full-time business down the road.
After seven years of blogging, I am shutting down TrueCrimeDiva.com by February 2, 2018. Comments will be closed on all articles today. This was a very hard decision to make and it did not happen overnight. I have spent months debating on whether or not to keep it. My passion for writing true crime is no longer there. It’s time to give it up.
I would rather focus my attention on more positive, uplifting topics. The past seven years was a learning experience, and I do love blogging. I will continue blogging but in a different capacity.
I want to say thank you to my past and present readers for visiting this site over the years. I also want to thank all the writers and publishers who allowed me to read their books for review.
