Missing Person of the Week: Toby Ray Coleman

Each week True Crime Diva highlights a missing persons case that has little or no information available regarding the circumstances of disappearance.

Toby Ray ColemanToby Ray Coleman, 18, was last seen by his mother at their home in New Caney, Texas on May 19, 1997.

Earlier in the night, Toby attended a party at Bills 3GS Trailer Park where he got into a fight with another party goer. Toby hit the man on the head with a beer bottle. The man turned around and used the broken beer bottle to slice Toby’s arm, and threatened to kill him.

Toby left the party with a female friend and went home. Toby’s mother cleaned up his wound and put bandages on it. Toby refused to call police. Shortly after, Toby and his friend left the house. The female friend dropped Toby off somewhere near the party, according to his mother on Websleuths.

Toby has not been seen since. It is unclear if this female friend knew the guy at the party.

Toby had left home on prior occasions but always returned. Police refused to file a missing persons report on Toby until August 25, 1997, three months after he vanished.

Police initially believed he left of his own accord, but now foul play is suspected.

If you have any information regarding this case, please call Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office at 281-297-6507.
