Toby Ray ColemanToby Ray Coleman, 18, was last seen by his mother at their home in New Caney, Texas on May 19, 1997.

Earlier in the night, Toby attended a party at Bills 3GS Trailer Park where he got into a fight with another party goer. Toby hit the man on the head with a beer bottle. The man turned around and used the broken beer bottle to slice Toby’s arm, and threatened to kill him. read more

Cheryl Henry and Andy Atkinson: Lover’s Lane murders still unsolved almost 27 years later

Known as the “Lover’s Lane Murders”, the brutal killing of 22-year-old Cheryl Henry and her date, 21-year-old Andy Atkinson in August 1990 shocked the Houston, Texas area and is considered one of Houston’s most brutal slayings. Their murders remain unsolved today.

On August 22, 1990, Cheryl Henry went on a double date with her sister, Shane to Bayou Mama’s club. The two couples parted ways around 11:00 p.m. Cheryl and her date, Andy Atkinson, headed up to Lover’s Lane in West Houston; a common spot for young couples who wanted some privacy. The area at the time was undeveloped and became the future site of an industrial park. read more

Tina Louise Bowen: Missing from Texas since 1997

Tina Louise Bowen disappeared from her Conroe, Texas home on July 14, 1997 and has not been seen since.

Tina Louise BowenIn 1997, 18-year-old Tina Louise Bowen resided at 517 Silverdale in Conroe, Texas. In the early hours of July 14th, Tina spoke with her boyfriend on the phone. Around 3:30 – 4:00 a.m., Tina’s mother spoke with her as she was going to bed. At 9:00 a.m., her mother checked on Tina, but the teen was gone. read more

Michael Jefferson Adams: Teen vanished in 1987 from Abilene, Texas

Michael Jefferson Adams of Abilene, Texas vanished outside his home in 1987 and has not been seen since.

Michael Jefferson AdamsMichael, 18, graduated from high school in May 1987. He worked as a clerk at M-System Food Store, located at 12th and Mockingbird Street in Abilene. On June 8, 1987, Michael headed to his family’s residence on Peach Street after finishing his shift at the store. read more

The 1988 Strawberry Trail Fire

This post is a little different from what I normally write. This case is officially solved, but I was asked by a Twitter follower of mine to write about it. Once I started researching it, I knew I wanted it on this blog. Thank you, Kathyann for suggesting this case!

The Strawberry Trail Fire, Dallas Texas, 1988

In the early morning hours of September 28, 1988, a fire broke out in a four-bedroom home on Strawberry Trail in Dallas, Texas. By the time fire fighters arrived, five children were dead; one survived. As the investigation began, law enforcement quickly realized this was not an accidental fire but an act of arson. Years would go by before suspects emerged. read more

Scott Andreas Sims: Texas 11-year-old missing since 1961

Scott Andreas Douglass Sims went outside to play in Wichita Falls, Texas in December 1961 and vanished without a trace. He has never been found.

Stamford, Texas is a small community just 40 miles north of Abilene. It is the epitome of small town America – mom and pop shops, a town square, friendly people.
