This post is a little different from what I normally write. This case is officially solved, but I was asked by a Twitter follower of mine to write about it. Once I started researching it, I knew I wanted it on this blog. Thank you, Kathyann for suggesting this case!

The Strawberry Trail Fire, Dallas Texas, 1988

In the early morning hours of September 28, 1988, a fire broke out in a four-bedroom home on Strawberry Trail in Dallas, Texas. By the time fire fighters arrived, five children were dead; one survived. As the investigation began, law enforcement quickly realized this was not an accidental fire but an act of arson. Tara Calico and The Polaroid Picture

I’ve read about this case several times and was reluctant to put it on here because it’s been written about numerous times. However, I thought I would go ahead and do it so I can give my opinion on the case and that famous picture. 

Tara CalicoTara Calico, 19, disappeared in 1988 after going on a bike ride in Belen, New Mexico. In June 1989, a picture surfaced in Florida depicting two children – one a teenage girl, the other a boy around 10 years old – tied up and laying on a makeshift bed. The girl is thought to be Tara, but this has never been confirmed and Tara has never been found. read more

Michelle Norris: Murdered in 1988; Case still unsolved

Michelle NorrisOn May 26, 1988, seven-year-old Michelle Norris left home with her brothers and cousins to walk to a park located behind Capt. G. Harold Hunt Elementary School in Central Falls, Rhode Island, where she attended first grade. The group was going to play a game of hide and seek.

At some point during her time at the park, Michelle vanished.

Stamford, Texas is a small community just 40 miles north of Abilene. It is the epitome of small town America – mom and pop shops, a town square, friendly people.

In the ’80s, population was close to 4,000. Stamford was considered a safe place to live and raise a family. Not the type of place you would expect to find evil lurking in its bushes. read more
