What Happened to 17-year-old Joseph Helt?

I have been asked by a classmate of Joseph Helt to write an article on this blog about him. I am completely honored to do so as I first read about Joe’s case two weeks ago, and it really touched my heart.

The Abduction and Murder of Tammy Zywicki

Tammy Zywicki

In August 1992, 21-year-old Tammy Zywicki and her younger brother, Daren, departed their New Jersey home and headed to the Midwest to attend college.

On August 23rd, Tammy dropped Daren off at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois and began the drive to Grinnell College in Iowa.

Later that day, around 5 p.m., an Illinois State Trooper discovered Tammy’s 1985 Pontiac T1000 near Mile Marker 83 along Interstate 80 and ticketed it as being abandoned.

The Unsolved Murder of Heaven LaShae Ross

On August 19, 2003, 11-year-old Heaven LaShae Ross left her Northport, Alabama trailer in Willowbrook Trailer Park, walked 50 yards to her school bus stop on Hunter Creek Road, and vanished into thin air.

About the Case

Heaven LaShae RossAt 7:00 a.m. Heaven, nicknamed Shae, left her home and headed to the bus stop. Her 13-year-old sister, Alex, had left five minutes before. The bus would arrive at the stop at around 7:25 a.m.

The Unsolved Murder of Seven-year-old Dalton Mesarchik

On March 26, 2003, seven-year-old Dalton Mesarchik of Streator, Illinois disappeared from his home while waiting for the church van to pick him up.

According to early reports, Dalton was waiting in his enclosed porch around 6:15 or 6:30 p.m. for the church van to pick him up.(Some later reports say Dalton went to wait outside the home at 6:45 p.m.)

About 7:00 or 7:15 p.m., Dalton poked his head inside to tell his mother, Michelle Mesarchik, he was still waiting.
