In the ’80s, population was close to 4,000. Stamford was considered a safe place to live and raise a family. Not the type of place you would expect to find evil lurking in its bushes.

Hailey Dunn: Who killed 13-year-old in 2010?

HAILEY DUNNYesterday marked the five-year anniversary of the disappearance of Hailey Dunn. I thought it only appropriate to write about her case.

On December 28, 2010, 13-year-old Hailey Dunn of Colorado City, Texas was reported missing by her mother when she failed to return home. Her stepfather, Shawn Adkins, told police that on December 27th, Hailey told him she was going to her father’s home and then on to stay the night at a friend’s house. Police later learned that Hailey did neither.

Dan Markel: Who killed the prominent Florida law professor?

Dan MarkelOn the morning of July 18, 2014, 42-year-old Florida State University law professor, Dan Markel pulled into his driveway in Tallahassee, Florida as he was talking on his cell phone. He told the person he was talking with that someone was standing in his driveway.

A few seconds later, a lone gunman followed Dan into his garage and shot him in the head through the driver’s side window.  A Toyota Prius was seen leaving the area shortly after.

Amy Mihaljevic: 1989 Murder Still Unsolved

amymihaljevicEarly in the week of  October 27, 1989, 10-year-old Amy Mihaljevic of Bay Village, OH received a phone call from a man claiming he knew her mother, Margaret. The man said he wanted to buy her mother a gift for her promotion at work and needed Amy’s help in picking something out. He explained to her that he had to keep it a secret.

He convinced the young girl to walk to the Bay Village Shopping Center on Friday, October 27th where he would meet her to go shopping. He told her to call her mother so she would not worry, and Amy did as she was told.

The 1997 Murder of English School Girl Billie-Jo Jenkins

Billie-Jo JenkinsIn 1997, Billie-Jo Jenkins resided with her foster family in Hastings, England, a coastal town about 1.5 hours southeast of London. Her biological parents could not raise her properly as her father was in prison and her mother was a heavy drinker. So, in 1992, Billie-Jo was sent to live with the Jenkins family (no relation). Billie-Jo knew Annie Jenkins from school.

The 1991 Yogurt Shop Murders

On the night of December 6, 1991, 17-year-old friends and coworkers, Jennifer Harbison and Eliza Thomas were working at an Austin, Texas yogurt shop called I Can’t Believe It’s Yogurt when Jennifer’s sister, Sarah, 15, and her friend, Amy Ayers, 13, stopped by to help the girls close up shop for the night.

Sometime between 11:00 p.m. and just shy of midnight, all four girls were shot to death, and at least two had been raped. The killers then lit the shop on fire to destroy any evidence.
